Theme of the word: "Overcrowding"
Crowds are a recurring theme in the work of Michaela Kasparova. It is a colourful crowd, sometimes enigmatic, made of people or even animals. It is a forced but amused closeness among the characters represented, who seem to ask "who are we?" "where are we?". The amusement is there, but the message that lies behind these works is not limited to the colour and expressive sympathy that is so obvious. The deeper reflection that is hidden, but not completely, concerns identity, aspirations, contradictions.
